Description

Our 4,000 square foot, 3-bedroom villa is located on over 100 feet of white sandy beach right on one of the most popular Jamaican beaches - the famous Runaway Bay. It is one of 4 villas on this stretch of the Bay with the privately run Cardiff Hall Beach and Breezes Resort to the east; to the west of is a small market of local artists.

At Las Palmas we pride ourselves on providing a home from home experience with exceptional staff; as a future feature we are gradually moving towards an eco-friendly environment. Our villa is comfortable and spacious with the pool area and its al fresco dining being a central point. The gardens are beautifully maintained and we are steadily reaping the produce which we have planted over the past few years. The big almond tree in the beach garden provides a cool place for a siesta and the gazebo allows you to watch the world go by on the beach.

The 3 bedrooms, with en-suite bathrooms via a walk-in closet, are located on the first floor of the villa. The wraparound veranda allows each bedroom sea views of Runaway Bay and beautiful views of Cardiff Hall. All bedrooms are accessed through an enclosed outside staircase.

Downstairs the layout of the villa allows our guests to split their time between relaxing in the living area whilst enjoying the benefit of pool life which is only a few steps away. A poolside shower room and separate half bathroom are also available conveniently downstairs and guests can also exit the living area via the doors leading into the beach garden.

STAFF

Our staff is on hand between the hours of 8:00am - 8:00pm daily with Breakfast being served between 8:30 - 10:00am and dinner 5:00 - 7:00pm. If guests require a snack or lunch this can be arranged with our Chef.

Our Caretaker is Clive and he manages the villa property, he has been with Las Palmas for 20+ years and offers invaluable insight into the surroundings of Las Palmas - without him Las Palmas wouldn't be the same. Clive resides in the staff quarters and is the key holder for the villa, ensuring that everything is locked up before guests retire in the night. He's also happy to get up extra early to brew some fresh coffee.

Jenny (Miss JJ) is our Chef and Housekeeper; she is our Chef Extraordinaire when it comes to authentic Jamaican cooking. Aside from traditional Jamaican dishes and juices, Jenny is happy to prepare other meals for our guests. As well as being Clive's right hand, Jenny also supervises the upkeep of all internal areas within Las Palmas. Jenny is assisted by Sharon, our housekeeper, when required.

Clive or Jenny are our guests first point of contact should any queries arise during their stay.

FOOD

Our staff prepares all meals; however, food and beverages are not included in the rental. As a guide price for food during a stay, we recommend $35 US dollars per guest per day.

Guests are free to use the kitchen during their stay to access their food and drink. Should guests require the use of kitchen appliances, please ask Jenny or Clive for assistance.

Upon our guests arrival, Jenny will discuss their complete meal requirements with them. If guests prefer the staff to shop for them, they will shop at L&M Meats in Salem and the local markets, providing receipts where applicable. A account is opened at L&M Meats, where payment can be made by cash or credit card.

LAUNDRY

We do not offer a laundry service or allow the use of laundry appliances to our guests. Should our guests stay at Las Palmas with small children we can provide a laundry service for their children's clothing for a small fee of $500 Jamaican dollars.

Activities

There are many places and activities to experience whilst in Jamaica. Whether our guests wish to visit local food and craft markets, ride a horse or ATV, visit the famous Dunn's River Falls or go out on a fishing trip to catch their dinner (be sure to ask Clive about the fisherman) Joseph Richards, our touring partner, will do his best to arrange a dream tour and activities. We recommend booking with Joseph in advance to guarantee his availability - bookings can be made prior to a stay through Las Palmas.

Whilst Runaway Bay's stunning beaches see far fewer footprints than its neighbors Ochio Rios, there are a few nearby attractions nonetheless. Bob Marley's childhood home and mausoleum is in nearby Nine Mile. Jamaican history is on view at Seville Great House and at Columbus Park Museum. The beautiful Cranbrook Gardens are also nearby and well worth an afternoon's visit as is The Green Caves Grotto.

For special occasions and an evening of musical entertainment are a great choice if you want a live band or a DJ. The cost is approximately $300 US dollars dependent on the guests requirements; Mike's contact information is available on request.

GENERAL INFO

TRANSPORTATION

Our guests can be met on their arrival at Sangster International Airport, Montego Bay by our touring partner Joseph Richards who is JUTA licensed. Airport transfer fees can be supplied on request.

A daily hire of Joseph and his vehicle is $130 US dollars plus gas. Should guests hire Joseph for a minimum of 3 days during their stay then the first full tank of gas is free. You will get a preferential rate for a weekly hire.

Other taxis and airport transfers start from approximately $100 US dollars per vehicle; guests are advised to agree a price with the driver before beginning their journey.




CURRENCY

The Jamaican dollar is the national currency in Jamaica but US dollars are widely used. Currency can be exchanged at the airport, at any bank, or at shops when making purchases. The best exchange rate locally is usually found at the local CAMBIO EXCHANGE; most major credit cards are accepted.

Bank hours island-wide are 9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 4:00pm, Friday. When exchanging money at the airport, at a bank or at a Cambio Exchange, a receipt is issued which is required to change Jamaican currency back into your currency when leaving Jamaica.

AIRPORT DEPARTURE TAX

Please REMEMBER to check with your airline if you will be required to pay an airport departure tax when leaving the island.
